GAY COLOURS ON CARS
Having first produced cars that would run, and then added comfort and dependability, designers now have entered with zest upon beautification. The result is a remarkable development of the use of colour. Even established conservative manufacturers such as Packard, who has concentrated so long upon a certain rich shade of blue that it has become known as Packard Blue, have adopted vivid, but beautiful, colour schemes. The move is a good one. It will brighten our streets, and give to man a chance of expressing a colour sense which has so long been denied by his convention of wearing drab clothes. Actually, however, the demand for brighter car colours originated among women motorists.
