M’IVER WINS BOTH MARLBOROUGH AND AUCKLAND MATCHES

Brydon’s Canterbury Match on Count Back NO BIS STAKE TO LINTON MARKSMEN (Per Press Association.) TRENTHAMj. Last Night. Pho weatncr was lino all oay xor the second day of tne real tussex for tno Pelt and some good scores were recorded aiso a lot ox poor ones tiiat caused much heartburns. Varying light was a contributory cause of many falls, ■but the wind though seemingly light played considerable part. It was so fair indeed that many men were tempted to disregard it to their subsequent scifrow, as one such afterwards put it in terse terms, “I reckoned the wind was there but wouldn't believe it." He believes it now. Riflemen were asked to do a big task yesterday. They finished the Marlborough Match which was partly fired on Friday then got through the Auckland and Canterbury Matches. M'lver, of Petone, carried off both Marlborough and Auckland Matches. In the first he put on two 48’s, his card reading— , SOO yds; 5554545555 500 yds: 5555545554 In the Auckland Match he had two 47's as follows — 300 yds: 5544555554 600 yds: 5455544555 On tho two matches this put him in a strong position, but he fell away in the Canterbury Match which was won by Bryden of Kaiapoi, with 47, made up of, 5535455555. Minchin, a tyro from Umutokc, gave him a hot chase, finishing with the same total, his shots reading, 5555444555, so that Bryden owed his first place to the count back. At the close of the afternoon the weather was almost perfect and promises to remain so indefinitely. The standard of shooting this year so far is better than last year when weather conditions were very uncertain. The Auckland 'Match A Grade last wear was won by E. King (Wanganui) 91, and 85’s were counted out. In 1926, Tilson (Grcytown) won with 97, and 91 's were counted out; and in 1925 K. Harrison (Hawcra) won with 96, while some 90’s had to stand out of the prize money. RESULTS IN DETAIL. J MARLBOROUGH MATCH. ..Ten shots at 300'yards and ten shots at 500 'yards. ;£sj W.
