HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. On Wednesday night the Epngotea Horticultural Society held a committee meeting in the Town Board room. There was a very good attendance over which Mr. L. H. Yarrall (vicepresident) precided in the .absence of the president,' Mr. H. H. Hunt. It was decided to hold the autumn show on April 18th. This is a week later than was formerly proposed, the

reason for the alteration being that April 11th, clashes with Easter and also there is more chance of getting entries of farm produce at the later dale. ’ Mr. J. Linklater M.P. is to be asked to open the' show. It was decided to ask Mrs. M. H. White to again organise a musical programme for the .evening, , The secretary was instructed to write Mr. J. B. Wood (snr.) tendering the Society's sympathy and wishing him a speedy recovery from his ill-

ness. Also to write Mr. A. J. Shailer, congratulating him on his success with his dahlias at recent shows, and for his past favours to the society. The following judges were appointed for the forthcoming show, subject to their consent: — Cut Flowers, Mr. A. J. Shailer; Art and Fancywork, Mrs. Crouchcr; Domestic, Miss Penny; Fruit and Garden Produce, Mr, G. Aggett. The following .were ajppointed as stewards for the various sections; —

Cut Flowers, Mrs. J. Will and Mrs. N. Knight; decorative, Mrs.: Davison, Fruit, Mr. J. C, Glover; Art and Fancywork, Misses JL McKelvio and V. Hobbs; Domestic, Mrs. L. H.
