MOTOR SHOW IN CHURCH
.An American journal devoted to motoring reports the , Christchurch Motor Olympia, as follows:—"Now Zealand Show is Held in Church." "Washington; December 2S. Automobiles and religion have a close alliance in New Zealand, according to a cable to the United States Department of Commerce, from its repre ; sentative in Wellington. He reports that the New Zealand Ninth Annual Motor Olympia was held in Christchurch from November 4 to November 22, the edifice being completely filled with automobiles, the majority of which were of American make. Out of a total of 92 passenger cars shown 61 wore made by American manufacturers. The idea of tho show of the church Wash hit upon by one of the dealers as a unique advertising possibility of the show and was received with enthusiasm by the churchmen as a means of. raising ■ a tidy revenue for the church.” The New Zealand Motor Trade Association has taken exception to the report as it is taken as an insult to both the churchmen and traders of Christchurch. Tho American Trade Commissioner for New Zealand has pointed out the error to the pviodical and i has expressed regret that a distorted version from an- obscure source received publicity.
