WEST END AND HOKOWHITU SCHOOLS PICNIC
i The West End and Hokowhitu Schools are to have a combined'picnic on Friday next," February 24th., on the Ashhurst Domain. This should prove a happy event- to which all are eagerly looking forward, ' The Committees have made elaborate arrangements and are sparing nothing to ensure a happy day. The staffs of the two schools have in hand the sports side of the day. There will be races for all from the primers, to the top standards. Swimming will be indulged in, and to ensure the safety of the children a stated time will be set aside for this when there will be ample arrangements made to safeguard the Swimmers from any dangers. I In choosing Ashhurst the Committees have in view the fact that the journey is not a tedious one. The facilities afforded by the Domain are second to none. The beautiful shady slopes of the river banks afford Ideal spots from which a grand .vletv is obtained across the Junction of the Pohangina and Manawatu Rivers into the Gorge. The train leaves Palmerston North station at 950 calling at Hill Siding and Terrace End. Tickets are obtainable at both the schopls, and will p.lso be on sale at the places named half an hour prior to train time.
