GAOL AUTHORITIES WHOLLY EXCULPATED
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Last Night. An inquest was held to-day on Vernon Richard Pike, who died in the Paparoa gaol. Pike was arrested on February S and charged with helpless drunkenness. He was suffering delirium tremens and was removed the following day to gaol. The Coroner found that Pike died of alcoholic poisoning, and added that he could see ho reason to complain of the treatment of Pike by the gaol authorities.
