"TREASURE ISLAND
Tho audience was the most astonishing thing about the first performance of the Christmas revival of "Treasure Island” at tho Goldcrs Green Hippodrome. Two thousand children from tho elementary schools in tho neighbourhood were in tho auditorium. They enjoyed it so much that there were moments when, even from the front of the stalls, it was impossible to hear a word that the actors were saying. They shouted and laughed and cheered. Whenever a pirate, with murder in his eye and a cutlass between his teeth, crept up to fetpiiie Trclawncy or Dr. Livcscy or Captain Smollett the audience shrieked its warnings. When Jim Hawkins swung in the rigging, with Irsael Hands on his heels, or was led out, a rope round his neck, by Long Jobn Silver, it grow almost hysterical.
