AUSTRALIANS SHOOT AT PAPAWAI TO-DAY;D TRENTHAM THURSDA Y
LINTON AND KIMBOLTON TEAMS TO TAKE PART
The Wairarapa Eifie Association s annual meeting opens at Papawai today and concludes to-morrow. Visiting marksmen from; Victoria and Net/ South Wales will bo present. The Lintn Eifie Club will bo represented by Eiflemen J. C. Carter, E. H. Eamsay and W. H. Thomas. Tho bigger fixture, tho National Eifie Association’s meeting at Trentham, opens on Thursday with tho Service matches, and shooting willl continue for a week. Tho Victorian visitors will also compete here. The Linton Eifie Club will have much fuller representation than at Papawah Already Eiflemen J. C. Carter, It. H. Eamsay, W. H, Thomas, H. Barlow, E. A, Jones, F. Lewis, F, Cox, C. Page J. Kyle, and Staff SergeantMajor J. Thompson have signified their intention of taking part, and Eiflemen W. Balt is also likely to make the trip. Tho Linton Club will have at least one good team for the teams’ match, and possibly two. Tho Kimbolton Eifie Club will also have a team present, comprising Eifiemen E. P. Bailey, L, Bailey, D. Banks, E. Beard and V. Jones. Tho Wairaki (Eangiwahia) Club will bo represented by Eiflemen W, Hyde and J. H. Thompson. Since their arrival in Wellington last week members of the Victorian rifle shooting team have been devoting some attention to practice. With the weather generally favourable, they are reported delighted with Trcntham, and they are also well pleased with tho ammunition supplied to them. It was thought at first that the ammunition would cause some difficulty, as it is
different from that generally used in Australia. Members of the New South Wales team arrived in Wellington on Saturday from the North, The visitors after participation at Papawai to-day and to-morrow return to Trentham on Wednesday in readiness for the National Eiflo Association meeting, opening on Thursday.
