A RARE BRITISH BIRD

A male bittern -was captured in Dub verton, Somerset, by an omnibus driver who thought it was a hen pheasant. The bird has a beak C-inch long, stands about 2ft. in height, and is beautifully coloured. It was despatched to the Zoological Society, London, who have accepted it for their collection and rewarded the driver. The bittern is a rare bird in Britain, and is becoming rarer each year.
