CALCUTTA, Dec. 14,
At the tea sales, the general quality of the offerings showed a falling off compared with recent sales. Tho market was weaker. Prices for poor classes declined 6 to 9 pies and goctl liquoring teas 3 to 6 pics. Clean common brokens, with well-made leaf, were firm at about the previous week’s rates. Dusts were strong and active and advanced -} to .14 annas Prices: Broken Orange Pekoe, common Id annas, medium,. Id annas 3 pies, good 15 annas 6 pies; Broken Pekoe common 13 annas 3 pies, medium 13 annas 6 pies, good 14 annas 6 pies; Fannings, common 13 annas, medium 14 annas 6 pics; good 17 annas.
CEYLON TEA POSITION. A quantity of -1,300,0001 b of : tea "was offered at tlie auction sales held in Colombo 6th December, the quality of which was less attractive than that submitted in the previous week. The demand was less active for, common est kinds, which declined by 3 cents, to 3 cents a lb ? but other grades were fairly steady. The week previous the market weakened, but there was a good general demand for the better grades, paritcular.ly by Russian buyers, but common and undesirable teas were neglected at a decline of -4 cents, a ib. Other grades were slight ly easier, in some instances being 1 cent, to 2 cents, a lb lower.
