-OKTIILY MEETING OP COUNCIL. [From Our Own Correspondent.] The monthly meeting was held in the Council Chambers on Monday evening, September 12. Present: Mr, M. E. Perrcau (Mayor), Crs. E. Parkin, C. Band, F. Lucinsky, S, E. Cowley, C. Spring. J. Boss, B. J. Thompson, B. Banglhcnea, and the Town Clerk, Mr W. Trueman. Apologies for absence wer e received from Cr. M. Walker. The monthly reports from the Gas Manager, Poundkeeper and Boad foremas were read and discussed. Cr. Thompson drew attention to the bad state of No. 6 Line. The Town Clerk stated that the metal had been ordered for this road but had not yet come ' to hand.—lt was resolved that the Manawatu County Council be asked to sell the Borough Council 50yds. of metal for this road. * Correspondence. From the Plunket Society for the usual grant.—Besolved that the sum of £2 2s be donated. Prom the Beautifying Society applying for contribution to the caretaker’s salary.—Besolved that the sum of £25 be donated. Prom Highways Board enclosing plans of the new Shannon bridge and stating that the Foxton Borough’s quota was one-twelfth of the cost, the total not to exceed £BSO. Th e Clerk stated that ho had written to the Highway Board asking that the Foxion Borough be credited with onesixth of the .value of the old bridge os that was Foxton’s proportion in connection with the erection of this bridge many years ago. 1 B'eply had not yet been received. The matter was held over for reply. From the Manawatu Bivcr Service Company asking for loan of Council’s hos 0 and town water supply to wash silt of shingle at the beach near Huia mill. Bequest was granted, the Manawatu Bivcr Service Co. to bear all costs of same. From Foxton Cricket Club asking permission to lay down a concrete pitch on Easton Park. Bequest granted subject to the approval of site by Reserve Committee. Cr Thompson brought up the matter of noxious weeds in the cenvetery. Resolved that this matter be attended to. As trustees for the cemetery the Council decided to take the responsibility of caring for the graves for the sum of 15s per annum.—Resolved that a circular letter be sent to those likely to be interested in this matter; also to form a sand road through the cemetery from gate to gate.

Accounts amounting to £1940/5/4 were passed for payment.
