NURSERY NOTES

It is not hard to discipline children and teach them to behav;e nicely hnd considerately to'other people., When accustomed to such hablts from early days they will be saved- from a lot of trouble at school and through life. Give children a word of praise when they try to help you and wait upon you- Even if their efforts do not amount to much, and what they do has to be done over again, just- let them think they' have pleased you. A little encouragement i s ' a wonderful thing, and every new effort will be an improvement on the last. Never allow your children to look upon themselves as perfect. If they are pretty don’t keep saying they are perfectly beautiful. Teach them that handsome is as handsome does, and you will give them the sweet character that adds so much to the charm of face and form; Obedience can be overdone. While a child should be trained to conform to. his mother’s wishes, it is Just as well to let him understand the reason for them. Mothers who are cros and capacious, and who shake their ’children and scold, them, do not turn out as good specimens as those who are always calm and' determined, merely showing the child that mother has good, reasons for asking him to do as she desires. Do not do everything for your children. As soon as they are big enough to attend to their own little wants let them do so. They should be taught to be-helpful -and unselfish.
