VALEDICTORY
MR. E. C. WOOD, A largo gathering of friends assembled at Hastie’s Hotel, Peilding last evening to farewell Mr -E. C. Wood, late district manager for Messrs Murray Roberts and Co., who is leaving to take up his residence in Wellington. Mr L. T. McLean presided and in presenting Mr Wood with a leather wallet containing a substantial sum subscribed by well-wish-ers, paid a high tribute to the widespread popularity of their departing guest and also his business Integrity. Feildlng and district was certainly sorry to lose men of Mr Wood’s character, but all joined in wishing him prosperity in the future. Mr. E. Goodbehere also culoglsca M r Wood's - character and popularity Which sentiments were endorsed by Messrs H. B. Burrell, C. Evans and E. E. Short. The gathering accorded Mr Wood musical honours and dispersed after Mr Wood had returned thanks.
