MANSON & BARR, LTD.

[Published by Arrangement.]

Although having no Stand at the Show this year, this old established house are making their usual line display at the Showroms in Kangitikei Street. Most of the Agencies handled by the Machinery Department are well known throughout the Dominion. The Wallace Universal Manure Distributor, made in Scotland, and which was awarded the gold medal of the Royal Agricultural Society, spreads any kind of artificial manure to a width of 15 feet at a stroke, and will cover a field in half the time taken by the box machine. A feature of the machine is its light draft, while the double rimmed wheels give it the necessary grip on hillside work. The Ontario Steel Frame Saw Bench as its name implies, is made in Canada. Being all steel, it is not subject to the warps and twists and the deterioration of the wood bench. The 26Inch Saw has the speedy cutting teeth for firewood and a heavy flywheel on the end of a spindle, running in white metal bearings, gives the Saw an impetus which will carry it through a log with small operative power. The Bateman Wilkinson Scoop, used for embankments, road construction, and drainage work, holds 7 cubic feet of earth and is an easy load for two horses. These Scoops are pressed out of one piece of high carbon steel, and have great wearing quality. The handles are in double sockets, and the bail is well secured to the sides of the Scoop. In order to give the Scoop stability on slopes, runners are strongly rivetted on the bottom. Miles or river embankments in this district have been constructed with these Scoops. The Wallace Milking Machine, although recently introduced to this district, is already well establishedIts simplicity of operation and its efficient milking will help the dairy farmer to overcome the handicap of low prices by its economy of working. The Wallace has features which make for saving. The whole of the Piping, Releasor, and Vacuum Tank can be taken down, cleaned, and replaced in the minimum of time by the system of quick release attachments. The machine is fitted with the Mechanical Pulsator over each ball, soft or moulded inflation cups, and can be supplied in either the single or double pipe systems. The terms of sale are very attractive, - and it will pay a prospective buyer before purchasing elsewhere, to inspect the Wallace, which we have' installed in our Showroom. Home separation is now the regular thing with most Dairy Factories manufacturing butter, and the Wizard Separator is playing a big part in this development. The Wizard is made by one of the largest Separator Organisations in the world, and the quality of the machine and its skimming capacity can be judged from the fact that a 10 years’ guarantee is given to each purchaser, signed by the Manag-ing-Director of the Company. The terms of sale are such that no one need be without one of these very fine machines, and, in fact, even a small improvement in the skimming throughout the season may more than pay for the whole machine. The capacity of the machine varies from the small one-cow size to the largest factory type, and the Company’s Agents are ready to give the good service associated with the Wizard. In addition to these and other machinery lines handled by the Firm, Messrs. Manson and Barr, Ltd.,' hold, perhaps, the largest assorted stock of general Hardware out of the -chief cities. Tlie needs of the farm in this particular are very closely followed, all kind of farm tools being made a special study. The Electrical Department is show, in gall kinds of cooking and heating appliances, and the great convenience of these, as compared with the coal or wood fire, is shown in the large demand for them. One of the largest agencies handled by the Company is. that of Wilson’s Portland Cedent, Ltd., of Auckland. Some of the finest buildings here and throughout the Dominion have been built with Wilson’s Cement, and a feature of this Agency is that, every fortnight, a new shipment arrives, ensuring that the Cement is fresh and strong. There is no doubt that’ the use of concrete has helped the farmer in making his improvements of a very permanent nature, and the large quantity used in this, district shows that this is fully appreciated by the man on the land. A visit to the Showroms in Rangitikel Street is well worth while, and the good service associated -with the. name of Manson and Barr Ltd., is at the service of its customers.
