SMASHED TO MATCHWOOD IN COLLISION
BLURRED WINDSCREEN OBSCURES MOTORIST’S VISION. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, Last Night. Smashed to matchwood the motorcar of Sydney Ernest Chappell was completely wrecked in Valley Road early this afternoon, when it crashed into the front of tramcar that was bound for the city. The accident occurred through Mr. Chappell failing to notice the tramcar. It was raining heavily at the time and his windscreen was blurred. The car was struck broadside on by the tram and Joseph Chappell, Vho was with the driver, had his hand badly lacerated.
