YOUNG FARMERS' CLUB

INITIAL SHOW. ON FRI DAY NEXT. The Young Farmers’ Club idea, promoted in this district, by the Feilding Agricultural High School backed up by enthusiastic support from residents of the town, and country has been responsible for the holding of a Junior Show —-the first of its kind to be held in the Dominion, and the gathering will take place on Friday next at the school. The officials of the club are as follow:—patron, Mr J. Gordon M.P.; president, Mr A. Campbell: vicepresidents Messrs Jas. Knight. A. H. Atkinson, E E. Short, L. J. Wild, P. J Boddy. B. H. Lange, E P. C. Swainson, Hectdr Booth. W. Whisker. N. S. Tankersley and W. Reid; committee, Messrs K. Ross, G. V .Wild. N. G. Whitehead, Dr. H H. Alien (members of the school staff) and Campbell ma„ M. Donald, Goldfinch. Mitchell, Martin, Gibbs and Wilson (agricultural students); secretary, J. M. Campbell. A Show schedule was drawn up, comprising 76 classes under various heads as follow:—Horse, cattle, sheep } poultry, fruit, vegetables, root crops, cooking and general, art work typing, photography and miscellaneous. Including collections of pasture and weed seeds, mounted plants, articles of woodwork drawing, essay writing, decorative writing peta and three pig classes not specified under the stock heads, dog trials, sheep judging competition and weight guessing. The show is open for competition from pupils of primary schools of the district and also boys and girls under the age of 18 yeans not attending primary or secondary schools. Certificates fo r class awards and ribands will carry prize money of 15is first prize and 10s second prize. For groups there will points prizes. Side shows and various forms of entertainment will be in the charge of students desirous of conducting these. The official opening ceremony will be performed by Mr. J. Gordon Elliot M.P. On the day following the show the school’s annual sports gathering will take place.
