NURSING GUILD
MONTHLY MEETING. At yesterday’s meeting of the Nursing Guild there were present Mr J. A. Me Leavcy (in the chair) Mes.dames Hewitt, Morgan, Lang, Spooner, Misses Cunninghams and Nairn, and Mrs. Aitchlson (secretary). Nurses Report The district nurse (Mrs. E. Q. Alexander) reported that 247 visits had been paid to 44 patients during the month. Thirty new patients had been admitted during the month, 30 had been discharged; 1 sent to hospital, 2 confined and 13 were still on the books. Donations had been received of 5/- for the use of the car shed, IC/5 from Wood’s weighing machine ,and further donations of clothing from, Mesdames Mullins, Lewison, Hardman and Lowden, the Willard Homo committee and anonymous friends. Clothing and help had been given to various families. Annual donations of £l-1-0 had been received from Mrs. T< R. Moore, and from Mrs. Beggs 10/-. Appeal for Clothing Miss Alexander concluded her report with an urgent appeal for clothing. “I am much in need of a fresh supply of clean old linen for dresslings. Children’s and men’s clothing is also much wanted. Bedding,
blankets and comforts for old pcoplt would also be acceptable,” she said. General Preliminary arrangements were made to conduct a garden party at the residence of Mrs. A. E. Winch Ihaka Street on the 27th of this month, and funds to be devoted to the purchase of a new car.
The district nurse (Miss E. G. Alexander) put forward a suggestion that the local newspapers be asked tt open a subscription list for the purpose of raising funds to purchase a car. It was agreed that this suggestion be adopted. . A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Winch for her offer of the use of her residence and grounds in connection with the garden party.
