YOUNG LADY KILLED BY MOTOR

KNOCKED DOWN NEAR STREET INTERSECTION.

(Per Press Association). ' DUNEDIN, Last Night.

As the result of bein ■>, knocked down by a motor-lorry about 11 a.m. on Saturday, Miss Margaret Reilly Surgenor, aged 17 years, received Injuries from which she succumbed at midnight on the same day.

The girl was crossing Cumberland street near the Stuart street intersection when she was knobked down by a motor-lorry owned and driven by J. Cleary, marine store-keeper, of Hanover street.

It was apparent that the girl was badly injured and after being attend, ed at the Central Fire Station she was conveyed to the hospital by the St John’s Ambulance. An inquest was opened at the hospital this morning, Mr. J. R. Bartholo. mew, S.M., sitting as Coroner. Evidence of identification was given by Arthur Wimpenny with whose firm Messrs. Wimpenny Bros, and Reid, motor engineers, of Moray Place, deceased was employed as a store clerk The Inquest was then adjourned until Monday next at the Courthouse at 10 a.m.
