ONE-DAY TRANSFERS OF LICENSE
AUCTIONEER, FINED MINIMUM PENALTY. [Per Press Association.] GRBYMOUTH, Last Night. A practice among West Coast auctioneers existing for years has been the transfer of licenses for one-day periods. / James Daniel Lynch pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s. Court this morning to a charge of conducting a sale without a licensej ho having had ‘ a Westland District license transferred to him for one-day. The minimum penalty of £lO was imposed. Mr. Meldrum, 'S.M., said the defendant thought he wag acting within his right but no doubt the practice was against the law. Defendant could apply to the Department of Justice for remission of the fine which he (the Magistrate) was prepared to recommend. V -
