Handicap Events Reach Finality | THE END IN SIGHT ( " ' Tho Manawatu Croquet Championship tournament was continued on Saturday, when good weather again prevailed. The progress was slightly retarded owing to several of the ladies being in more than one event. However, the end is almost in sight and it is expected will be completed by tomorrow. - The finalists for the Manawatv handicap doubles have proved to be Mesdames Spring (Manawatu) and Moore (Foxton) and Mesdames Eckersley and Davies (Manawatu). The combined pair have to give half a bisque handicap but tho game should be well worth watching. As was expected, Mrs. Jamieson Terraco End) and Mr. J. Tantrum (Takaro) are the two competitors in the final for tho B grado handicap singles competition. Both players have created surprises and there Is every prospect of both having their handicaps reduced to bring them into the A grade. In the meantime, Mrs. Jamieson receives a full bisque from her male opponent. Following on rather a mediocre display the previous day, Mrs.. Gambrlll (Northern) met Mr. H. Sinclair (Manawatu) early Saturday morning to give a brilliant and faultless display. Apart from the particularly good play of Mrs. Gambrlll the game was noteworthy In that it was the shortest game of the tourney, her male opponent being defeated 26 —4 in less than an hour.
