EFFECT OF FORTY-FOUR HOUR WEEK

INQUIRY IN AUSTRALIA.

[By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cablo Association.] (Received Tuesday, 7.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 14. The inquiry into the effects of the forty-four hour week is drawing to a close. The other side contended that this was completely refuted by facts, and that the country’s financial and economic condition did not warrant such a reduction, but would gravely retard the development of primary industries, and handicap competition in the world’s markets.
