Miss Gwen Robinson, daughter of Cr. and Mrs G. E. Robinson, of Preston, a brilliant young medical graduate of the Melbourne University, has received an appointment to the Goodlet Hospital, Shollnghui, about sixty miles from Madras, India. She left on November 16th by the Otranto, accompanied by Dr. Jean Slater.

The engagement is announced of Minnie Evelyn, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. B. Pack. Plimmerton, to Ernest Charles, youngest son of Mrs L. Batten, Otaki. <S> <S> <S>

The Prince o£ Wales and the Duke and'Duchess of York are to spend Christmas with the King and Queen at Sandringham (writes a London correspondent). They have promised to attend the West Norfolk Hunt Ball, which will be held, under the patronage of the Queen, on. December 28.

Miss Stedman, a popular member of the District High School staff, is being transferred to Motu, Gisborne district.
