FEILDING PIPE BAND

ORGANISATION COMPLETED,

The organisation of the Peilding Pipe Band was completed at a meeting of enthusiasts held on Saturday night, • Mr. G. A. Ficbig presiding.

The members of the band present were: Pipers A. Aifcken. P. Eichler. H. Butler, A. Mclntyre, D. McDonald, bass drummer J. Simpson and side drummers J. Black, C. Sagar, and H. Hendle. The band includes a number of country members who wore unable to attend.

The following officers were elected: President, Mr. G. A Fiobig: secretary, Mr. C. Sagar: treasurer, Mr. A. E. Matheson; band committee, Pipers Stuart and Mclntyre and Drummers Black and Simpson; ladies’ committee, Mesdames Aitken, Hendle, Hackett, McDowall, Smith, Sparkes, Stuart and Telford: pipe’*major, Mr. Cooper: pipe sergeant, Mr. Pike.

It was resolved that the ladies’ committee be asked to organise a tartan contest for the purpose of raising funds for the purchase of uniforms. Hour important tartans were, elected, namely, Cameron, McKenzie* Stuart and Fraser. At the conclusion of the contest the tartan topping the poll will be "adopted for the bandsmen's uniforms.

Mr. Fraser was thanked for his pro. mise of the use of a. set Of pipes. It was resolved that the Feildir-/ Borough Council be heartily thanked for Us consideration of the request for a donation to the band funds, and that, a farther request be made at the beginning of the year when the borough estimates were being prepared, such being the time indicated by the Council when grants will be considered.
