“A few days ago,” says a physician, writing in the London “Standard,” “I saw two smartly dressed women walking in Bond street with bare heads. “We have had hatloSs vogues before, of course, and, speaking generally, they have not been long-lived. But those were in days when women wore long hair. It is the short-hair habit which has made all the difference. “There is no denying the fact that today the average woman improves her looks when she takes her hat off. “Speaking as a physician, I think It would be a good thing if the custom became universal, especially in summer. The hair of the human head is a splendid sunlight trap, and the human scalp is specially devised by nature tor receiving the benefit of tb.e light rays so 'entangled.’ ”
