ISLAND STEAMER STRANDED
TROUBLE with native crew, [Pe” Press Association,] AUCKLAND, Nov. 3. Captain George, master of the Tolna Vincula (War Lord) who arrived here by the Tofu a last night, states that a week alter tlio vessel stranded her crow deserted. Ho went to a village on Nukunoni Island to round them up. They were exceedingly hostile and ho had to show a gun to prevent himself being clubbed. Later they wanted to come aboard, but ho refused to allow thorn. The captain and officers lived on llsh and cocoanuts. The War Lord was actually refloated and sail was set and the engines going astern when the cable broke and the vessel went on the reef hard and Lust. The Nautical Court at Apia exonerated Captain George and attributed the wreck to an unusual set of the current.
