The steamer Jervis Bay established a wireless record, nightly keeping in touch with Australia throughout tho voyage. When she reached Plymouth she wirelessed to Sydney where the message was received within one-six-teenth of a second and inside of 20 minutes a reply came back.
The features were the low power used, only a quarter kilowatt against 1000 kilowatts used by the Rugby station, and that the signals grew stronger and more constant after the ship passed Malta and were practisaly entirely free from atmospherics.
