KEEPING IN THE LIMELIGHT
GUNPLAY AND THEFT. PEXLDING SENSATION RECALLED. [Pe- Press Association.] WANGANUI, Last Night .lean Baxter, who created a sensation in Foilding recently by presenting a revolver at the proprietress of a ladies’ hairdressing saloon, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with stealing a watch valued at £5, the property of Angus McKay. Detective Walsh said that yesterday morning the complainant left his house, and during his absence the accused went in and stole the watch. The accused admitted the theft and said that she knew the informant and wanted to tell him about a book named “Musings in Maoriland’’ he had lent her four years ago. She was under the influence of liquor at the time and did not know why she took the watch. Detective Walsh said the accused had been brought before the Court before for vagrancy and theft and only came out of gaol on Wednesday after serving a sentence for presenting a revolver at a person at Foilding. The accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour. ______ _
