The totalisator turnover was £41,123 10s, compared with £14,276 10s for last year. The total for the meeting was £67, 326 10s. compared with £26,917 10s, when the meeting was held at Mastcrton. In inquiry into the running of Royal Mint reported that the judicial committee found that though the evidence did not warrant their taking definite action they view the performance of Royal Mint in the Lawn Handicap with grave suspicion. Buoyant won the Opaki Handicap all the way, but it was not a very satisfactory race. Inferno was responsible for a remarkably good performance in the Mac Ara Handicap, for he appeared to lose five or six lengths at the start, yet passed his opponents at the finish as if they wore standing still.
