BENNETT BUXTONS AVON 111' .MAN ARAL. The first croquet match played for t lie "Bennett Buttons” look place at Mu nakim, Thursday, October 2S, at 3 a.m,, between Mesdamcs Baxter and Evans (Manakau) and Mesdamcs Aim and Mason (Shannon). In the early part of the game the green was very heavy, but as weather conditions became more favourable, the green was faster. It was a well-fought game, lasting throe and a-half hours, resulting in the Manakau players being victorious, 2(i—23. After the match, the "Buttons” were presented by Mrs. Ferguson, secretary of the Manawatu Association. The next chalengers are Mesdamcs Kirk and Hall (Levin), who play at Manakau within (he next week.
