ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
[Per Press Association.] INVERCARGILL. Last Night. A young girl, Mavis Porriam, aged twelve, whoso parents are residing at Win (on, received serious burns on Tuesday, and is now in hospital in a serious condition. She was standing before an open fire when her clothing caught alight. Edna War!, aged four, of Wyndhain died on Tuesday as a result of burns received the same morning. She was dressing before an open fire, and her nightdress caught alight. A sister attempted to put out the flames by pouring on water. The child received serious injuries before the firu was extinguished, and was sent to Invercargill hospital, but died aa a. result of shock and injuries.
