TERRACE END SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Terrace End School committee was heid last evening. Present Mr W. B. Cameron (chairman), Rev. J. H. Bredin, Messrs W. L. Macpherson, A. McNeill, W. Hebden, W. Newlands, and H. Smith. Apologies were received from Messrs J. Allen and A. E. Hern. The headmaster (Mr |A. W. Thompson) was in attendance and reported a roll of 731, and that there was no room to receive further pupils in the infant department this year, but he was making arrangements to accommodate pupils in the standards who live in the school area, and not at present attending other schools. It was resolved to advise the Wanganui Education Board in respect ol the accommodation of the new school, that it will not be any larger than the present building. The school would thus be unable to take any more pupils than at present. This emphasised the necessity for the erection of another school in the hear future, in the vicinity. It was decided to apply for tables and chairs for the/new infant department, in place of desks, as the former were more modern for this work. It was decided to hold the annual picnic on the Ashhurst Domain in February next, in lieu of Plimmorton as in former years. It was also decided to open Iho school baths on Saturday, November 6th, the hours and charges to be same as last season.
