WANGANUI, Last Night. The fact that a signboard showing th e way to Ashhurst, hah the name of that peaceful hamlet incorrectly spelt* an essential “H” having been omitted by the signwriter, was one of the reasons why the Feilding branch of the Wanganui Automobile Association, in a letter read to the executive tonight, expressed dissatisfaction with the treatment accorded it by the parent institution. The letter further asserted that the branch had been ignored, and that the Wanganui Association's attitude was beyond comprehension. In the course of a discussion, members of the executive attributed Feilding's hostility to the secretary. Mr. K. Little. Mr. F. J. Hill: He hah a certain number of th e committee on his side, Mr, A. Rqbinson: We cannot iet an Important centre like Feilding drop out.
Dr. E. Porritt: We should endeavour to convert things into an agency. Diplomatic processes to be adopted in soothing the disgruntled branch. Were dismissed for some minutes. Mr. J. A. Aylmer; They may resent the idea of being converted intp an agency. Dr. Porritt: They won’t form a branch of their own. Voices; They are not big enough. Mr. Aylmer; They certainly won’t go in with Palmerston North. (Laughter). Dr. Porritt said that the Feilding secretary had apparently taken a dislike to Mr. Hill. A member: Too many home truths. After further discussion, it wals decided that Messrs Hill, Aylmer, and possibly Robinson or Porritt. pay a visit to Feilding. and endeavour to smooth the difficulties.
