CRICKET IN COLD AND MIST

Australia Plays All England A DRAWN GAME RESULTS [By Electric Cable —Copyright.} [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, Sept. S The weather was cold and misty, and the wicket soft, when the cricket match between Australia and an English team was resumed. The attendance was 2000. Jardine and Woolley did not last long, the former going out to a magnificently held low left-hand catch by Oldfield. Woolley was easily taken in the next over, the total standing at 76 for three wickets. Gregory was unable to get his usual pace on the soft pitch, leading the batsmen to mistime their strokes. Hendren scored quickly by means of attractive cuts and smart running. As the afternoon advanced the mist became thicker and the light very poor, and the game developed into something approaching a farce. Calthorpe played an admirable allround innings. He timed his Strokes well, and cut and drove vigorously. He was dismissed by a good cal*h by Hendry at second slip, and the board then read 148 for secen wickets. Play was Interrupted for nearly an hour owing to the bad light. It was resumed in deference to the wishes of the crowd, the last 40 minutes being played in an unpleasant drizzle. Astill* brought off a series of good cuts off f Grlrnmett. He and Smith added 45' for the eighth wicket. The match was drawn, details being as follow: AUSTRALIA.
