savage club effort. With a veritable Savage introduction, to the accompaniment of liaka and Maori song, the Manawatu Savage Club will present u most original programme to Hie public ol Palmerston North in the Opera House on Friday evening next, and the gross jtroceeds from their effort will be devoted to the Mayor's Unemployment Fund. The selection of items has been made with a view to that originality wlitsh characterises all Savage koreros, and particulars of these are published in another column. We can not vouch for the list being complete, for in the local Hapu it is quite a common occurrence for one of the tribe to produce an additional item at the last minute, to the gratilieatiou of his tribal brethren. However, the programme as it stands will more than satisfy the demands of the most fastidious first-nighter, and the entertainment will go with a swing from curtain to curtain. The vocal items will comprise solo and concerted numbers from some of the town's leading vocalists, while the orchestral selections will be most welcome to the audience. Numerous Savages are busy in the rehearsal of original and up-to-date sketches. The Mannequin Parade will be of especial interest to the ladies, and it is claimed that no mere man will be able to restrain his mirth as the result of this production. Another amusing and topical sketek will also be staged by sui>;vy stag®, struck Savages! Those who have not seen Savage V, F. B. Rogers in his lightning sketch item will be intrigued by the cleverness of his work, and Savage R. H. F. Grace will bring several new conjuring tricks before the public. The reputation of Savage Bert Pizzcy as an entertainer will be greater than ever after his contribution to Friday’s programme. The stage manager in Savage Rcmmington, and no effort is’being spared in presenting the entertainment in a novel and attractive form. The Club’s one regret is that there is not sufficient time co enlarge the Opera House, for a great demand for seats is expected, especially in view of ths moderate prices of admission. The public are urged to remember that the gross proceeds will be handed over to the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund, and that the box plan opens at'the Opera House at 10 o'clock on Tuesday morning.
