This arrangement will bring the vessel to Wellington every trip instead of as previously, every alternate trip, and will also be an advantage to importers at Lyttelton, as through bills of lading to that port will bb available . with 2,000,000 ft. of lumber, 62,000 cases of oil and 1170 tons ofgene'ral cargo, the American steamer MONTAGUE reached Auckland from Los Angeles on Sunday morning. The cargo is for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The MONTAGUE was built for the United States Government at Vancouver, Washington, in 1922. After running for some time to Japan and China she was laid up for two years. At present she'is running under charter to the Swayne and Hoyt Line in place of WEST CAHOKIA, which has bteen withdrawn from the New Zealand service. MONTAGUE is an oil burner of 6067 tons. She can steam 12 J knots. After being overhauled and docked she loaded at Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She cleared the last-mentioned port on March 2. Fine weather prevailed on the voyage until last Saturday morning when a hard east-south-east gale Was encountered. ATHENIC arrived in Wellington yesterday morning from Lyttelton to complete homeward loading. She is fixed to . sail from Wellington for Southampton and London, via Panama on Apr. 9. MARAMA, which arrived in Wellington from Sydney on Tuesday, is to sail on the return trip at 3 p.m. to-day, instead of on Friday. The C. and D. liner PORT NAPIER sailed from London on March 27 with general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. The vessel is due at the northern port on May, 15. En route from Lyttelton to London, the liner RUAHXNB sailed from Curacao on March, 26. REMUERA cleared the same port on the same day in continuation of -her- voyage from London to Auckland and Wellington. She is due at the northern port about Apr. 20. The Shaw-Savill liner ARAWA, arrived at London from Wellington on Monday last. She left the New' Zealand port on Feb. 17.

The Huddart Parker steamer, ULIMAROA, is to leave Sydney to-day for Wellington and should arrive there on Monday. She ■will return to Sydney on the following Friday.

The Union „Qoy. advise that SUSSEX (under charter), will leave Calcutta shortly to load at Eastern ports for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin.

The Shaw-Savill Coy.’s steamer MAHIA arrived at Lyttelton from London on Friday after an uneventful voyage. The vessel is to proceed to Dunedin to-day and will then sail for New Plymouth to complete discharge.
