BIG RIFT IN LABOUR LUTE

“DIRTY SWINDLERS 'AND USURPERS”

Scathing Attack on A.L.P. Executive

WOBKEKS’ UNION WANTS A CLEAN UP

IBy Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Wednesday, 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 31.

A bitter fight is promised at tho forthcoming Australian Labour Party annual conference. A wide split has developed between the leaders of the Australian Labour Party and the Australian Workers’ Union. The latter is making- a determined attempt to gain control of tho conference, and has issued a manifesto containing a scathing attack upon- the faction which allegedly controls the Australian Labour Party executive. This declares that the chief executive positions of the Australian Labour Party are in possession of an unscrupulous gang of usurpers, who are resorting to every description of dirty trick and swindle in order to secure to' themselves power. It elaborates these charges, quoting many alleged instances in support of them. It appeals to all Labourites who honour their faith, to purge the Labour Party from the elements which have dragged the fair name of the Labour movement in the gutter of contempt.

Following this, an indignation meeting of representatives of all City branches of the Australian Labour Party was held and at it, allegations of irregular methods were freely made against members of the executive of the ruling faction.
