RANGIOTU NEWS

[From Our Own Correspondent.] The Harvest Festival was held on Sunday at 11 a.m., when the church was luxuriously decorated with vegetables, fruit and flowers, and the seating accomodamtion was taxed to the utmost, on the whole presenting a magnificent spectacle. The pulpit was occupied by the Kev. F. McDonald, of Foxton, who took for his text Psalm 120, 5-«. The choir, under Mr. D. Howlands, rendered anthems with a solo by Mrs. Southgate. The evening service was hold at 7.30, when the church was again packed to overflowing, the preacher being Mr. J. H. Wilson. Presbyterian Home Missionary, who took for his text Psalm fis, 11. The choir again rendered Anthems with splendid music by Mrs. Wilton (organ), Messrs. \V. Mudford (violin), and D. Alve (saxophone). On Monday evening the produce had been transferred to the local hall and at 8 p.m. a large crowd assembled when a short social programme was gone through, the performers being

the Misses Wilton, pianoforte duet, Misses Shaw and Rice, duet, Mr. J. H. Wilson, song; and a very pretty song by little Sheila Croad, who was encored and gave a recitation. The remainder of the evening was spent in making purchases of the beautiful fruit and vegetables, also games were indulged in. Before the close of the evening Mr. Wilson, on behalf of the church management, thanked all those who had helped to bring the evening to such a success, and a special vote to Mr. Rowlands for his services. The secretary (Mr. J. Andrews) had an arduous task gathering in the “bawbees,” but was well pleased with the weight of the treasury at the close of the evening.
