CRICKET ASSOCIATION
MAN AGER ENT COMMITTEE MEETING.
The usual meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Cricket Association was held last evening, when the president, Mr F. ,T. Oakley, occupied the chair. Othpr members present were; Messrs A. J. Smith, J. Silson and G. K. I-loilier (hon. sec.) Correspondence.
The Wairarapa Association wired that it was unable to raise a team to play the Manawatu reps.—Received, j The Napier Col!eg - e Old Boys’ Club [wrote asking for a game against either a senior or a junior team at PaJI merston North during Eastor.—The secretary 'was instructed to make the necessary arrangements.
The Palmerston North Borough Council wrote pointing out that the £SO owing for the rental of the sportsground was due.—The secretary reported that the matter had been attended to and he was Instructed to write to the town clerk pointing out that (he reason why the money had not been paid was owing to the fact that the ground fees payable to the Association had not been forwarded by the various clubs, and as this was Hie only revenue, the Association did not have sufficient funds. The Rongotca Club wrote forwarding the names of the following players available for any match during the Easter holidays:—F. Wright, P. Blenkensop, G. Goldfinch, E. J. Arnett.—Received.
The secretary of the New Zealand Association advised that the .Council had considered the matter of makin? the Feikling sub-Association into a separate body affiliated directly to the W.Z. Council, and had decided to refuse the application, on the grounds that Feilding was too close to the headquarters of the Manawatu Association. —Received. General. It was decided that ‘ ail representative matches during Easter commence at 10.30 each morning. The Wednesday competition was (declared closed, the winners being 'Albion, with IS points, and Railway [runners-up with 16. The chairman reported that Mr R. (3. Abraham had presented a bat for 'the best young player, to be decided by the Association, and the secretary was Instructed to write thanking the : donor for his gift. | Mr Silson stated that the cup for the third grade competition had been [recovered, and It was decided to have it inscribed with the winners for the past three seasons.
