NOTES OF THE DAY

While in Feilding on Friday last, their Excellencies (Sir Charles and Lady Fergusson) visited Feilding'a centenarian, Mrs. Francis Webb. Mrs. Webb informed Sir Charles Forgusson that she had met Sir George Grey on the West Coast when he was Governor of New Zealand, and also related incidents of New Zealand history which amazed their Excellencies. They were delighted to converse with Mrs. Webb, who expressed herself as pleased and honoured by the visit of the Governor-General and Lady Fergusson.

A sports carnival is to be held af the Waituna West School grounds on Saturday next. The Methodist Church, Feilding, was again crowded to the doors by a very eager and expectant congregation on Sunday evening, when tne choir gave Stainer’s “The Crucifixion." Thg soloists were Mr. N. Gifford, Mr. A. Shelton and the Rev. A. Mitchell. The time and place very materially assisted in helping to produce the spiritual atmosphere essential to a successful treatment and this was deepened by the devotional work or soloists and choir. The gem of tne evening was undoubtedly “Goa so Loved the World. which tvas sung unaccompanied. The production was a musical treat and gave evidence or very thorough preparation. Mr. Crump was at the organ, and Mr. Shelton conducted.
