FATS SELL BRISKLY AT ADDINGTON

Heavy Entry of Indifferent Ewes RECOVERY OF BEEF PRICES [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. At the Addington market there was another heavy entry of store sheep, which numbered 40,000. A heavy proportion were indifferent class North Island ewes. All classes of fat stock sold briskly. Store sheep.—A very heavy entry, mostly ewes. Poor quality North Island consignments were easier by up to 2s per head. Good ewes showed little change and rape lambs sold, if anything, better than last week. Passings were more frequent than usual. Forward rape lambs, 21s to 235; medium lambs, 19s to 20s 6d; small crossbred lambs, 5s to 8s Cd; inferior lambs, 4s to ss; good threequarterbred ewe lambs, 23s to 265; halfbred ewe lambs, 22s to 255; 2tooth three-quartorbred ewes, 28s Cd to 325; inferior 2-toothed three-quar-terbred ewes, 24s to 27s Gd; 4-, 6 and S-toothed three-quarterbred ewes, 25s 6d to 31s Gd; lower conditioned 4, G, and 8-toothed three-quarterbred ewes, 24s Gd to 25s 9d; four and five-year-old local crossbred ewes to 295; failing mouthed halfbred ewes, 8s 9d to 1 24 s 6d; failing mouthed crossbred ewes, 10s to 21s; 4 and 6-toothed crossbred wethers, 25s to 275; 2 and 4-toothed halfbred wethers, 22s 6d to 255.

Fat lambs.—2soo entered and an advance of Is a head in value. Show lambs, to 40s; extra prime, to 325; prime, 29s to 31s; medium weight, 27s 6d to 29s Cd; light and inferior, 25s to 26s Gd; unfinished, 22s 9d to 245.

Fat sheep.—A small entry and very bright sale, values being up for export, ewes and all classes of wethers up to Is to Is 6d a lb. , The export schedule was generally exceeded. Extra prime wethers, 3Qs to 39s Id; prime wethers, 34s to. S4s Cd; medium wethers, 27s 9d to '3os {.d; light wethers, 25s 6d to 27s 6d; extra prime ewes, 28s to 335; prime ewes, 24s to 26s 6d; medium ewes, 20,s 6d to 23s Gd; aged ewes, 14s to 1

Fat cattle: A smaller entry comprising 455 head. The bulk were cows. But for steers, the sale was Very brisk, the drop of the previous week being fully recovered. Best fieef was from 37s 6d to 40s, and in a few cases to 42s per lOOlbSi heavy, weight 35s to 38s Id, med. quality 32s to 345, inferior from 27s 6d down to 22s Gd, extra heavy steers to £lB 17s Gd, heavy steers £ls to £l7 ios, prime medium-weight steers £l4 to £l7, medium quality steers £lO to £l3, light steers £G to £9 10s, extra prime heifers to £l2 17s Gd, prime heifers £8 15s to £ll, ordinary heifers £G 10s to £8 10s, light heifers £5 to £6 _ ss, extra prime cows to £l3 2s Gd, prime cows £7 15s to £lO 10s, medium cows £5 15s to £7 10s, light cows £4 10a to £5 12s Gd, rough cows £3 15s to £4 7s Gd.

Vealers; A' good sale. Calves 20s to 60s, runners £3 5s to* £6 10s. Store cattle: Some good lines of steers were forward. Three-year steers made to £5 Is, five-year steers ta £8 Is, cows to £4.

Dairy cattle: A'very small entry. Springing cows £5 to £lO 10s, springing heifers £4 10s to £9. Fat pigs: Slightly easier sale. Choppers £3 10s to £9 13s 6d, baconers £4 to £6 10s. Average price per lb. 9d to 9Jd. Porkers 57s to B,os Id. Average per lb 9id to 10id Store pigs: Slacker demand. Weaners Ss to 15s Id. slips 22s to 265, stores 2Ss to 50s Id, extra largo 65s M( 635. JOHNSONTHiLE SALE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd.* and Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: Johnsonville sale held yesterday. A fair yarding of all classes of stock came forward. The quality of the sheep and lambs, with the exception of a few pens, was very poor indeed. In fact some pens were only medium stores. The bullocks yarded were heavy and mostly good quality.
