DANNEVIRKE—SECOND DAY. KILBRONSYTH WINS MEMORIAL. SPRINT TO ARCHEEN. The Dannevirke Racing Club’s autumn meeting- was concluded yesterday in continued brilliant sunshine The course was in good order and the cxcelent racing was witnessed by another large crowd. The tote handled £14,254, the increase for the day being £1403, and that for the meeting £367 Hunters Burn lingers Twice, As Kilburn had been risen omy three pounds for running a good second on Wednesday, he was sent out a short-priced favourite for the Highweight Handicap. Many Colours and Perle de Leon, the latter of which had gone up 171 b. for Wednesday's success, were next on the machine. Asleep went to the front immediately the field was despatched, and was followed through the straight by Perle de Leon and Strongholt. while Kilburn was well back, and Capitulation was behind the field. There was no great change in the order on the way round, except that Santiago improved his position on the home bend. Asleep and Perle de Leon came away in the straight and fought out a great finish in which Asleep won by a head. Many Colours was three lengths away, third, and Strongholt and Santiago were next. Charleston had gone only a few yards in the race when he was • seized with paralysis and fell. Favourites Beatlen. Favourites were well beaten in the Novice Stakes Comedic and Braeman were at short prices, but both failed to see the journey out. Bronstell and Hgkuwai led to the straight, where Comedic took charge and Braeman and Windy Night put in claims. Hakuwai outstayed the others, but Hynanna came at her over the last bit and got the decision on the post. Braeman was a fair third and next came Windy Night Comedic and Trance. who were in line. Archeen Improves. Another hot favourite went under when Papaponga flailed in the Glengarry Handicap. Usually a smart beginner, the Campfire gelding did not jump out well, ran round the field all the way and was off the course at the turn. Standard made the early running, but Archeen came through in the straight and won by two lengths from Standard. Koodoo was third, and the favourite last. A Racecourse Certainty. Backed like a Gloaming, White Fang went to the front early in the Tiratu Handicap and won without exertion by four lengths from Minstrel Boy, who was prominent all the way. Cherry Pie and Merry Imp were up near the front till the straight was reached, but they failed to tinisn on and Ne%vbury King and Butterscotch were third and fourth. Then came Soakist, Merry Imp and Cherry Pie. Kllbronsyth the Memorial Martulla, who looked much improved by the race she bad on the first day, was favourite for the Hartgill Memorial, but there was big money also for Kllbronsyth. Malatour piloted the field through the straight and made the running at a fast pace several lengths clear of Gaze, Kllbronsyth, Good Sport ana Fillotte. Going along the bacli, Malatour had a break of four lengths on the field, and at the head of the next bunch were Kllbronsyth and Fillette, while Martulla was next to last. Maltour led into the straight from Fillette and Kllbronsyth, and Martulla, getting a run through, made up ground fast for a while. Kilbronsyth finished best and gathering Malatour half a furlong from home went on to win by half a. length. Good Sport was a fair third, just ahead of Fillette, Star Ranger, Martulla. De Luxe and Son o’ Mine next. Five Horses—Two Dividends. Only five horses contested the Telegraph Handicap, and Indian Sage, Piulhair and Wllmoreana wore evenly backed. Bonidcer’s pace took her to the front ail the way round to the straight .and Reed dropped Indian Sage in behind her. However, Indian Sage, was in front at the distance, where Pluthair began to move up from the back. Another great finish ensued and the pair crossed the line together, the judge awarding a dead-heat. Bonideer was third, two lengths away, and Wilmoreana fourth An inquiry was held into the alio • gation that the rider of Piuthair had got on the heels of Indian Sage ridden by Reed. The explanation tf Green was that his horse blundered and the stipendiary stewards decided to titlee no action. Pipped on the Post. There was even wagering on the Kaitoke Welter for which Clandhu on whom there was a late run, wound up favourite. Tongatatoa led Willow Wal along the back with Clandhu and Sanctuary next Tongatatoa led into the straight and as he was still going well, it was clear he was ; going to be hard to catch, Willow Wai did not last long, but Clananu ( threw out a solid challenge. Green ' put the stick on him and kept It on t all the way to the post and got his ’ mount home by a head. Willow Wat was a couple of lengths away third, and Sanctuary was close up fourth. Sarty the Last. The meeting concluded with the ; Tapuata Hack Handicap. Othon was better backed than the Trenthamtrained Sarty, which was regarded as a good thing and Kilburn, who had raced earlier in the ay, also carried a fair amount of money. Idanoe got i away well and was prominent in the j early stages with Sarty nicely placed, and Othon well hack and covering a lot of extra ground. Sarty took ; charge in the straight, and Othon . put in a long late run, but failed by half a length to get to Sarty. Idanoe 1 was two lengths away, third, and 1 Revel and Kilburn next. i t Selling daily from 2 p.m. in bargain room at top jf stairs at Collinson and Cunninghamo’s: Horrochses Win- r ceyette Nights with long sleeves and ( square necks of lace and insertion: f suitable for children from 4 to 15 a years.
