Major-General Sir Newton Moore (Conservative), in the House of Commons, ashed Mr. J. C. G. Davidson (Under-Secretary of State for the Admiralty) what was the value of the contracts now being carried out In Britain, and what contributions were the Dominions and colonies making to the British Navy. Mr. Davidson said, In reply; that Australia had let contracts In England for two cruisers, costing £4r200,000, and two submarines, costing Ntew Zealand was at present spending £500,000, and India was contributing £IOO,OOO, while Hong Kong has given £260,000 towards the Singapore base.
