FEILDING STOCK SALE
NEW YEAR VALUES. There was a very large gathering of farmers at the first stock sale for the New Tear at Peilding yesterday, outside districts being particularly well represented. Sheep and cattle came forward in good supply, but buyers were not inclined to operate freely, being content to sit back and watch the progress of prices. Very few fat were yarded, but there was a much larger yarding of stores than Is usual for the opening sale of the year and the bulk of these came from over the ranges. As usual, the demand for these sheep was by no means keen and the prices realised for them was considerably lower than those for local stock. The sale opened without activity, but bidding improved considerably as the offerings became fewer. Store cattle were not sought after, although cow beef met with a steady market.
