MALIGNANT DISEASES
MODERN CURE METHODS. USE OP RADIUM AND X-RAYS. LONDON December 21. Professor T. H. Laby, Professor of Natural Philosophy in Melbourne University, who is now in England, ha* made inquiries in London, Paris and Now York regarding the effectiveness of the institutes for the treatment of malignant diseases by the use of radium and X-rays with the view to the establishment of a similar institution in Victoria. It is stated by Professor Laby that In the opinion of the medical specialists of the three countries he visited a clinical institute, with a strong research side, was essential la order to combat malignant diseases. Although the problem of the scientific refrigeration of meat Is highly technical, there la no reason, says Professor Laby, why it should not be solved. The Cambridge experts’ success in the refrigeration of apples encourages the belief that they will ultimately solve the problem of meat transport.
