In a paper on genetic study at a cancer symposium conducted by the American Society of Zoologists at Newhavcn, Connecticut, Dr. Strong, of the Bussey Institute of- Harvard, said the growth of the use of automobiles appeared to have an upward trend in the number of cancer cases in largo cities. This was due to Irritation through the constant breathing of poisonous exhaust gases in the streets of great centres of population. Although cancer was widespread, and perhaps more prevalent in rural districts, the constant exposure of city people to exhaust gases might lead to a growth of cancer,' unless the problem were met in the near future. It is pointed out that scientists generally believe that cancer is not a germ disease, but comes from Irritation set up, first In single cells of the body prepared for it by a here, dltary background.
