Two-toothed half-bred wethers made 23/- to 24/6: good, four and six-toothed wethers, 25/9 to 26/6; four, six and eighttoothed wethers, 21/1 to 24/3; soundmouthed cross-bred ewes, 26/- to 29/10; small Down cross lambs, 18/7. Fat lambs. —4300 head were penned, most of the entry being of prime quality. Owing to the short staffs of butchers at the freezing works, export buying was somewhat restricted and schedule export rates for the week were scarcely maintained, particularly for heavy-weights, and severe. l , export firms were not operating. Extra choice beef in a few cases made 45/- per lOOlbs.; prime, medium-weight, 39/to 42/-; prime, heavy-weight, 34/- to 37/1; medium quality, 31/- to 34/-: light 27/6 to 30/6; and rough, (down to 22/6. Choppers sold from £3 to £5 15/-; baconers, £3 12/- to £6 15/- (average price P er lb.. 6d to 7d); porkers, 44/- to 66/r (average per lb., did to 7Jd). Store pigs.—The market was easier, in sympathy with the drop in the fat pig market. Weaners realised 19/- to 25/-; slips, 26/. to 28/-; small stores, 30/- to 34/-; medium, 35/ to 40/-; large stores, up to 50/-. JOHN SON VILLK SALE. Messrs "Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd., and Abraham and Williams Ltd., in conjunction .report on Johnsonville Sale held yesterday as follows;—A good yarding of sheep and lambs came forward. Owing to the holidays there was ho sale last week and butchers supplies were short, consequently a good sale resulted. Sheep sold on a par with late rates. Competition for lambs was very keen and prices showed an advance on last sale. An average yarding of bullocks were offered and sold at prices on a par with late rates. Vealers were In keen demand.
