Unless rain c falls, there is danger of the whole 1 forest being wiped out. The fire la 1 characterised by the Chief Inspector • of Forests as the worst in the history 1 of Victoria. It travelled at amazing f speed and at one time was five mlleo 3 long, and a quarter of a mile wide, i and one hundred feet high. There have been many narrow escapes. ’ Up to the present, the fire has 1 made a clean sweep of seven square 3 miles of some of the finest timber r reserves in the State.
