The course proper outside three trestles was open for fast work and was in good order. Sir Archie covered a mile, the last seven furlongs in Imin 38 4-5 sec. Star Stranger and also did a mile, the last seven furlongs being covered in, Imin. 82 2-5 Sec. Queen Arch did four furlongs in 52i sec., and Horemea five furlongs from the old post in Imin. 7 4-Gsec. Thursby, Kawlni, and Frowning Beauty were in that order at the end of a round, done in 2min 5 3-5 sec. Centrepiece, not doing his best, did seven furlongs in imin 42sec. Royal Tea, Ngawati, and Ciarus in that order, did five furlongs from the new post in Imin. 6 4-ssec. Kiosk was in front of Decoy Bird over a similar distance in Imin 21sec.
