PARAMOUNT. "Where the Pavement Ends," a Rex Ingram production for Metro is now showing at the Paramount Theatre. Mr Ingram made the screen version from a story by John Russell. Alice Terry and Ramon Novarro have prominent roles. The cast includes Harry T. Morey and Edward Connelly. PALACE THEATRE. "CHEAP KISSES." A strong picture dramatic to a degree, but with a distinctly humorous side to It. and also many .points of merit in the way of scenic beauty. The cast have excelled themselves in .giving a masterly interpretation of what is a somewhat difficult story, and the net result is just so much clean, wholesome and delightful entertainment for the fortunate folks who see the screening at the Palace Theatre. To-night wiill be completed a very successful run Of three nights. “DECLASSE.” The Christmas attraction at the Palace will be the wonderful First National picture, "Declasse," of which such great notices have appeared in the world’s news columns of late. This picture will be screened on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. On Christmas night patrons are promised o. special treat, arranged as a tribute i n the returned soldiers of the district, ROSY. Willard Louis portrays the part of Robillard in the new Warner Master picture, "The Lover of Camille," now being shown at the Kosy Theatre. Ethel Shannon Is entrusted with the leading role in Franklyn Parnum’s latest, "Billy the Kid.” STRALIA 1 HER FAVOURITE ROLE ; “Although I perform the leading Soprano roles in 29 Grand Operas, there are special roles X love," said Siral'ia in an interview the other day “For Instance, Donna Elvira, "Don Giovanni,” Rossini’s great opera, is ono eminently suitable to me and in every musical centre of the world where I have sung this role, I have never yet had an adverse criticism. This goes to prove that I am quite at home in this, one of the most difficult of all Grand Opera parts. I will sing the great Aria at one of my concerts in New Zealand; and those who have an idea what music is will understand the difficulty, but the flexibility of my voice comes to my aid and thus I am enabled to roach the climax at, the end without undue strain. I shall do my best to sing some of the principal arias of the better known operas such as “Aida," "Rlgoletto," "II Trovatore. “Ernani Involaml,” "Cavalleria Rustlcana,” “Semiramide,” Tannhauser," "Carmen," etc. I am supported by a very f!n e combination and one that lam proud to bo. associated with. Chuhaldin, the violinist, is, in my opinion, one of the world’s greatest. Nothing is too difficult for him, while Andre Navarre’s voice blends with mine and makes our duets a special feature. Sverjenaky, the pianist, is equally at home as a soloist or accompanist. I have heard that New Zealanders are a music loving community and it affords me .great pleasure to have this opportunity of visiting your wonderful country." Her concert taken place at the Opera House To-night.
