ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the W.C.T.U. was hold in St. Andrew’s school-room yesterday afternoon, the President. Mrs. T. Young, presiding. Annual Report. The annual report, after regretting the failure to secure prohibition at the lust election, urged the necessity for renewing the struggle with increased vigour and determination. Delegates v ere sent to the Dominion convention held In Dunedin and the district and area conventions at Foilding and Marton reaped ively. The Union had been favoured during the yonr by visits from several eminent speakers, Including the Dominion President, Mrs. Don. The cradle roll totalled Gfi members, SC of whom had been onrolled during the ' year. Miss May Harris, of Fitzherbcrt, had busied herself in getting new names for the roll. In reference to hospital visiting the superintendent for this duty had again put in faithful work in the interests of the sick and reported having paid 23 visits, each time distributing scones, fruit, biscuits and sweets In the absence of Mrs. Sanson, in April and May, Mrs, Ferguson and Mrs. Cobbe kindly took on the work. Thanks were due to those ladies who had helped with literature and with food. Work In connection with Willard Home continued to progress satisfactorily under the guidance of Mesdames Crabb and Birdsall. The finances of the Home were also In a healthy condition a donation of £250 from the Rathbone estate and £l5O from the McCarthy trust enabling il to pay off the remainder of the mortgage and to start a fund for now and permanent buildings. Having £IOOO in hand as a nucleus for the new building .it was felt that serious plans could be commenced for a more convenient and commodious home. The public was more and more sym pathetic and much help in different ways had boon received. During the year the 'Children would be taken to Pllmmerton, as a change. There were 75 subscribers to the White Ribbon agency. Donations had been made towards the creche at the Dunedin Exhibition and also to a fund to help women and girl workers there. There was only one L.T.L, under the union, that being at Fitzhcrbert West, managed by the President. There seemed no need for these gatherings in town, as there were so many Banda of Hope. At the beginning of the year there wore 22 members. A modal awarded to the boy *tr girl who gained - the most members during the year was won by May Harris, who enrolled 2S. In conclusion the report expressed appreciation of the President’s sacrifice and loyalty in attending meetings so roguarly when often it entailed much inconvenience. Election of Officers.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted us follows: President, Mrs. T. Young (Fitsherbert); vice-presidents, Mesdames Paccy, Ferguson and Allman; corresponding secretary, Mrs. J. G. Coliine; recording secretary. Mrs. T. R. Hodder; treasurer, Mrs. Watson; white ribbon agent'" and superintendent of evangelistic department, Mrs. J. T. Burrell; cradle roll superintendent, Mrs. Astbury; hospital visitor, Mrs. Sanson; press agent, Mrs. Watson. Various amounts were voted to different works as follow: —Maori work £2, World's Missionary Fund £l, New Zealand Alliance £5, Dominion Organising Fund £2.
